Understanding the dashboard

2 min read

This guide walks you through the GeoBuddy admin dashboard — where each section lives and what it does.

Accessing the dashboard #

After activating GeoBuddy, click GeoBuddy in your WordPress admin sidebar to open the main dashboard.

Welcome dashboard #

The GeoBuddy welcome dashboard is the first screen you see. It gives you a quick overview of the plugin and shows all available addons as cards — both active and inactive. From here you can quickly access addon settings or navigate to other sections.

Add-Ons page #

Go to GeoBuddy → Add-Ons to see all available GeoBuddy addons. Each addon card shows its current status — active or inactive — along with options to manage or activate it.

This is where you go to:

  • See which addons are currently active on your site
  • Navigate to an addon’s individual settings
  • Discover new addons available for your directory

Settings page #

Go to GeoBuddy → Settings to access the main plugin configuration. The settings page is divided into tabs:

  • Custom Fields — enable or disable social media fields and the 360° virtual tour URL field for listings.
  • Site Templates — browse and import free and premium GeoDirectory demo site templates.

Site Templates tab #

The Site Templates tab inside GeoBuddy Settings lets you browse and import pre-built GeoDirectory demo sites. You can filter templates by page builder (Elementor or Block Theme) and by plan (free or premium).

Premium templates require an active GeoBuddy Bundle Membership license. Enter your license key directly in this tab to unlock them.

GeoBuddy vs GeoDirectory admin menus #

Because GeoBuddy extends GeoDirectory, it is important to understand which menu handles what:

  • GeoDirectory menu — manage your directory content: listings, categories, listing types, custom fields, and reviews.
  • GeoBuddy menu — manage GeoBuddy-specific features: social fields, virtual tours, site templates, and addon settings.

If you cannot find a setting, check both menus. Content-related settings live in GeoDirectory. GeoBuddy-specific feature settings live in GeoBuddy.
