GeoBuddy is available for free on WordPress.org. Follow the steps below to install and activate it on your site.
Before you begin #
Make sure GeoDirectory is already installed and activated on your site. GeoBuddy will not function without it. If you have not installed GeoDirectory yet, install it first — it is available free on WordPress.org.
Installing GeoBuddy from WordPress.org #
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
- Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
- In the search box, type GeoBuddy.
- Find the GeoBuddy plugin by BuddyDevelopers in the results.
- Click Install Now.
- Once installed, click Activate.
GeoBuddy is now active. You will see a new GeoBuddy menu item in your WordPress admin sidebar.
Installing via ZIP file (manual install) #
If you have a ZIP file downloaded directly, you can install it manually:
- Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
- Click Upload Plugin at the top of the page.
- Click Choose File and select your ZIP file.
- Click Install Now.
- Click Activate Plugin once the upload completes.
Installing premium addons #
Premium addons are installed the same way as a manual ZIP install. Download your addon ZIP file from wpgeobuddy.com, then follow the manual install steps above.
Each addon must be activated individually. Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins and click Activate next to each addon after installation.
Verifying the installation #
After activation, confirm everything is working correctly:
- The GeoBuddy menu item should be visible in your WordPress admin sidebar.
- Go to Tools → Site Health — there should be no critical errors related to GeoBuddy.
- If GeoDirectory is not active, GeoBuddy will display a notice at the top of the admin screen asking you to activate it first.
